These notes with short bibliographies to the lectures deal with the wide panorama of Chinese civilization and India–China relations. They are arranged lecture-wise to be followed by full-length papers at a later date. The first five lectures which form the background are followed by dynasty-wise analyses of the topics in the next five. We hope these notes and their bibliographies will acquaint the budding Sinologists as well as generalists with the vast dimensions of China study and help the concerned scholars prepare for the gallimaufry that is the India–China interface.
